What are the common Musculo-skeletal diseases?
Spondylosis, lumbar aches, sciatica,
knee pain, ankle pain, tunnel carpel syndrome (TCS), arthritis, frozen
shoulder, calcaneus spur are some of the most common complaints in this category.
Spondylosis, lumbar aches, sciatica,
knee pain, ankle pain, tunnel carpel syndrome (TCS), arthritis, frozen
shoulder, calcaneus spur are some of the most common complaints in this category.
What causes these musculo-skeletal
problems?
Our musculo-skeletal system is
designed for hunting. This involves speed, strength and stamina. At least you
will agree to this statement when you see the movements of aerobic exercises, yoga, martial art, weight
lifting, body building, athletic
activities or any outdoor games. Basically this means that our bones, muscles
and digestive system should be strong.
Our bones should be strong to hold the
muscles. Technically the strength of the bones depends on the bone mineral density (BMD). To increase
the BMD one needs to do resistance exercises. This is the reason why most
sports persons, by default, have strong bones and muscles and are able to excel
in their chosen field. Two major contents of bones are calcium and phosphorus.
99% of calcium and 85% of phosphorus in the body are found in the bones and
teeth. Sodium, magnesium and carbonates are the other minerals found in the
bones. The above mentioned minerals are sourced from the foods like almonds,
sardines, dairy products, broccoli, cabbage, lady’s finger, figs, dates and
leafy greens.
Our clinical studies on patients in
their 30’s, show that one more factor contributes to this condition. This is
actually an occupational hazard. Most of these youngsters work in an AC
environment for about 10 hours a day. Some of them come back to an AC home.
That means that for almost 20 hours they are in this AC atmosphere. Our body
temperature is 37 degree Celsius. This temperature has to be maintained for the
functioning of the internal organs. AC temperature will be around 20 degree
celsius. Since the outer body is at a
lower temperature, the internal body struggles to maintain the 37 degree
temperature. To maintain the temperature, the body has to use the more calcium
from reserve. The calcium level in the body is maintained by the thyroid gland.
The gland has to produce a hormone called thyroxin to raise the calcium level
in the blood. Overworking of this gland leads to thyroidism. Now a days large
number of people are effected with thyroid issues. In the case of ladies this
condition affects their reproductive system also. This is the time that wear
and tear condition sets in.
When the musculo-skeletal problems are
chronic and the patients are within 40 years of age, correction is possible
with an integrated approach. In our treatment centre we use AcuMatrix Therapy
along with Ayurveda medication.
Calcium will be processed and
assimilated into our blood if there is sufficient Vit D in our body. Vit D is
produced in the skin with the help of sunlight. This Vit D is processed in the
body with the help of iron. Vit. C is needed to process the Iron. Vit C
is sourced from the fruits (especially gooseberry, kiwi, citrus fruits, guava
and sapota) and vegetables that we eat. This is a Metabolic Law that the body
follows.
Alternative medicine believes that the
main cause of these problems is indigestion.
Sedentary lifestyle and wrong food habits ( high calorie food like aerated
drinks, bakery products, fried items, packed and readymade foods, polished rice
etc) reduces the metabolic rate, and over a period of time upsets the digestive
system. This increases the acidity
in the body. Excess consumption of salt and sweet products also increases the
acidity in the body. Spicy foods increase dryness in the body. Smoking and
consumption of alcohol will aggravate the acidity. In general, whenever the
acidity increase in the body the calcium level goes down.
Initially no symptom will be appearing in the
musculo-skeletal system. The first outward sign will be tooth decay, hair fall
and body pain or muscle cramps. Over a period of time, osteopenia and muscle
weakness will set in and if we don’t correct our lifestyle and food habits even
at this stage, then the next stage of
deterioration –osteoporosis- sets in.
AcuMatix Therapy consists of:
- Yogic procedure- which can be practised as an exercise module for the rest of their life. This module will increase the metabolic rate and help to reduce the body weight. Apart from this, the practise of the module will act as a resistance exercise and will help to absorb more calcium, phosperous and other minerals into the blood stream. So the osteoporosis condition will be reversed in the body.
- Micro Dieting Techniques will help the patients understand what is the type of food that suitable to their body prakruti. This will help them overcome the acidic nature of their body.
- Advanced Acupuncture protocol will also address this chronic situation adequately and hasten the curative process. There are specific protocols for each and every kind of musculoskeletal issues. For eg: Spondylosis, lumbar aches, sciatica, knee pain, ankle pain, frozen shoulder etc
